What are the rules for filming porn in LA?

LA is a state where the pornography industry is legal but it doesn’t mean there is no boundary to producing sexual contents. Porn filmmaking in LA is still subject to law and rules too.

Legal Age

Selling any content with anyone under 18, portraying someone under 18, or even just in the back but is under 18 is illegal. If the actor is under 18, or showed you fake ID but the real age is under 18, the actor will be bailed out of it because it is your responsibility to check fact information of your performers. Follow the Custodian of Records laws, where you keep track of the information of your performers. The record should be with you all the time just in case there is an inspection.

Do not create an obscene film

Remember, any porn that has actual sex as opposed to simulated is illegal. Obscenity may be legal to LA, but in other states where the pornography is received, it may be illegal. Generally, the porn movie is considered as obscene if it includes urine, feces, animals, or endangering anyone’s life.

Have a lawyer who knows zoning

Zoning laws usually come from other cities, municipality, or even a county. There are locations that ban adult or sex business, therefore you need someone to shop locations where adult business is acceptable, and where you can set your porn business production.

Health Laws

Porn filmmakers should secure health permit before proceeding to the filming. Any makers who will be caught without health permit will be punishable by the law. The health permit includes the use of a condom while performing. This requirement is still in the permit but is not mandated after porn filmmakers won against it in the court. But still, any porn producers who will be caught without health permit will be punished, fined, and even lose their equipment.
